PaintOver

PaintOver lets you fine-tune your guide image by adding or removing details with painting tools. It’s especially useful when you want more control over what influences the final result.

What you can do with PaintOver:

  • Emphasize specific areas.

  • Hide unwanted elements in the guide image.

  • Adjust lighting or color in selected spots.

  • Add new elements to your scene (sun, mountains, buildings, etc.)

  • Modify your subject (add sunglasses, jackets, hats, etc.)

  • Add text or graphic elements.

  • Virtually tweak your guide image in any way you like—the possibilities are endless.

How it works:

  • Select a guide image to use as your background.

  • Tap the PaintOver button to enter the painting view.

  • Paint directly over the guide image. Rough painting is usually enough.

  • Enable OverPaint using the toggle in the bottom-left corner.

  • Tap Imagine to generate a new image based on your edits.

💡 Tip: PaintOver is most effective at lower strength values (under 50%). This gives the model more freedom to interpret your guide image while still respecting your painted adjustments.

Auto-Refresh:

Enable Auto-Refresh to automatically replace your guide image and painting with the newly generated result. This is especially useful for progressive edits, where you want to evolve the image step by step.

Preventing Degradation:

When using a guide image that was generated by the same model and without any additional guidance (like ControlNet or Guide Image), it’s best to use a random seed. Reusing the same seed can lead to visual degradation.

Rule of thumb: If you notice quality loss, shuffle the seed once, then feel free to lock it again.
